Much like an accident on the side of the road, it is tempting to stare at the sea of red in the market Tuesday, but there are much more productive things to do to ready ourselves for when the market finds its footing. For today and tomorrow, that means tuning into management presentations today and later this week at the Morgan Stanley Tech conference, while keeping an eye on the Volatility Index (VIX), the Fear & Greed Index, market oscillators, and key technical support levels.

As we do all of that, we’ll continue to work through our thoughts on Idexx Labs  (IDXX) , which we recently added to the Pro Portfolio Bullpen. Once we’ve finished our analysis, we’ll have more definitive things to say about those shares.

Portfolio Dividend Announcements

In the last 24 hours, American Express  (AXP)  and Waste Management  (WM)  have announced more about previously telegraphed plans to increase their respective dividends. Amex announced a 16% increase for its quarterly dividend to $0.95 per share and that new dividend will be paid on May 8 to shareholders of record on April 3. WM's new $0.945 per share quarterly dividend, up from the prior one of $0.825, will be paid March 27 to stockholders of record on March 13.

In addition to that March dividend payment from Waste Management, we also have ones coming from TJX  (TJX) , Welltower  (WELL) , Microsoft  (MSFT) , Labcorp  (LH) , Alphabet  (GOOGL) , Meta  (META) , Bank of America  (BAC) , and Eaton  (ETN) . We will see these quarterly payments captured in the Portfolio’s cash position.

Apple’s Continued Week of Product Launches

On Monday, Apple  (AAPL)  introduced its new low-end iPhone, which should shore up its place in emerging markets. In our view, what’s more important is this new iPhone model uses Apple’s next-generation modem chip, the C1X, which has twice the speed of the original C1 chip and uses up to 30% less power than the modem in the iPhone 16 Pro. This is key because it showcases Apple continues to make strides as it approaches the March 2027 end for its supply agreement with Qualcomm  (QCOM)  for 5G modems. From a product lifecycle even, that covers Apple’s 2026 smartphone launches.

Tuesday, Apple announced its new M5 MacBook Air, MacBook Pro M5 Pro and MacBook Pro M5 Max, and the new Mac Studio Display and Studio Display XDR. Still to come this week are the expected low-cost MacBook A18 Pro, iPad 12, and Mac Studio.

All told, nice upgrades to existing products, keeping them fresh on the shelves. But as we’ve discussed with you in recent weeks and touched on again in today’s Portfolio Video hosted by TipRanks’ Julie Gillespie, we see the AI-enabled Siri accelerating the iPhone upgrade cycle. The reason is only iPhone models as recent as the iPhone 16 lineup are designed to run Apple Intelligence.

We’ll continue to watch upcoming Apple OS beta releases, and report back when Apple starts to seed the new Siri.
