In last week’s Weekly Wins, I got a little philosophical. I discussed why I think social media is losing its stranglehold on so many of us and how the future is in community.

The good news for TheStreet Pro subscribers is that we have two different active communities: The Diary and Portfolio Forum. Plus, as a member of TheStreet Pro community, you can comment on every article and discuss trading ideas and strategies with our professional investor contributors.

One topic that is hotly discussed in the Diary community is crypto. I mean, why not? Our current administration is making crypto such an important part of what they do, from national policy to family-run crypto companies owned by children of administration officials. If you’re not looking at the crypto markets, you’re on the wrong side of the investing community.

So, I wanted to remind people that we had two different crypto picks included among the Best Ideas for 2025.

2025 Best Ideas on TheStreet Pro Selected in December 2024

Bob Byrne selected DeFi Technologies DEFTF, which is up by 46% so far this year. And James “Rev Shark” DePorre went straight for the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF IBIT. He’s up 16% on that one.

Notice, too, how well the team is doing overall. On average, the picks above are up around 9% in this very challenging year, where the S&P 500 is down 1%. More than half of our picks are up on the year, and some have done devastatingly well.

Back to Crypto. Just this past Monday, Rev Shark pounded the table again on Bitcoin and recommended buying more IBIT. You can read more about it right here. Basically, Rev Shark believes that Moody’s downgrade of US debt will move traders into Crypto and Bitcoin will be the main beneficiary. He points to a Cup and Handle pattern made during Q1 and Q2 of this year. A break over $60 wil lead the way to new all-time highs in IBIT. And that’s exactly what happened this week.

Well done team, and well done Rev.

Elsewhere around the Arena

In other news, I took over TheStreet’s Stock Market Today Friday. I include a nice wrapup to the week. Click here if you’re interested.

I've also been writing for Autoblog, as I mentioned last week. Here's my latest, which asks How Does the Ultimate Dad Wagon Stack Up to My Daughter's Car? I just like it and wanted to share. It was a fun one to write as I was looking for a new car.

Remember Boy George? This article from our sister publication Parade shows him today, and I would not have recognized him.

Have a nice Memorial Day

Let's go to Sarge from today's Market Recon to sign off for the weekend:

By all means, celebrate the day, and celebrate the weekend, but respectfully. The day is an observance of those who sacrificed everything so that we might not. Let us honor their memory, by accepting this bounty with both grace and class. It is not "Happy Memorial Day," for there is nothing "happy" about tragic loss. It is, however, "Have a nice Memorial Day," as that still allows for fun and family time while not disrespecting the how, the why and the sacrifice.
