Apple AAPL will unveil its latest entry-level iPhone today, potentially scrapping the iPhone SE name for something else. This new model is rumored to feature a larger 6.1-inch organic light-emitting diode display, Face ID, an A18 chip, a USB-C port, and Apple Intelligence support. In other words, Apple is looking to pack quite a punch as it trickles down features found in most of its higher-end models.
We’ll get the specifics later today, including the price point, that could make the device a compelling one in developing markets and something that fuels further growth in Apple’s higher-margin Services business.
Of course, we like that with this move, Apple’s entire iPhone lineup will be comprised of devices using organic light-emitting diode displays. That adoption for its entry-level model is likely to spur other vendors to make the same move.
As Apple makes a similar upgrade with its Macs and iPads, we see the same copycat behavior unfolding. It’s that industry mix shift as well as adoption in other end markets that keeps us long-term bullish on shares of Universal Display OLED.
