DATE:

That’s a Wrap, Gang. Sarge Out.

Well, the bell has now rung at last. Nvidia  (NVDA)  reported on Wednesday night and despite easily beating expectations for both results and guidance, sold off fairly hard. The stock gave up 5.5% during the regular session and led semiconductor stocks lower.

The Nasdaq Composite surrendered a gnarly 1.18% for the session, while the S&P 500 lost 0.54%. The broader market did better. All of the small-to midcap indexes showed gains, the Dow Transports did well and the KBW Banks did well.

Five of the 11 S&P sector SPDR ETFs ended the day in the green, led by the Financials  (XLF)  and the Industrials  (XLI) . Technology  (XLK)  placed eleventh on semiconductor weakness, despite a green finish for the Dow Jones U.S. Software Index.

Away from stocks, Treasury debt securities were strong as the U.S. 10-Year Note paid just 4.01% at day's end. Gold showed some mild weakness, while crude oil ended largely flat.

After the bell, it looks like CoreWeave  (CRWV)  is struggling, but Dell Technologies  (DELL)  is popping after those two names reported their quarterly financial results.

Have a great evening, gang. God bless you all. I will cross paths with you tomorrow.

Until then...

Heads Up on TSM

Readers may or may not recall that back in mid-January I gave you a $377 target price for Taiwan Semiconductor  (TSM) . Yes, the stock is taking a hit today, down more than 3%, trading with a $375 handle. I did not have room for it in any of my articles today, but TSM apexed at $390 yesterday. If you are long and did not act at target, this is a reminder.

The stock is still in an uptrend by the way:

TSM simply hit resistance at the upper trendline of my Pitchfork model. I am not concerned about this name. At this time, my target has been revised up to $445 from $377 for the balance of my long position.

Baseball Trivia Answer

Question: In 1985, five different St. Louis Cardinals (Coleman, Herr, McGee, Smith, Van Slyke) stole at least 30 bases. That's good enough for second best since integration in 1947.

In the integrated era, only one MLB team has had six different players steal 30 or more bases. Name that year and team. For bonus pointers, name as many of the six players that you can.

Answer: Dougie got the answer probably as soon as he read the question. So much for my difficult rating.

For those that did not see Doug's answer, the 1976 Oakland Athletics had six different players steal at least 30 bases. Those players were...

Bill North... 75

Bert Camapneris... 54

Don Baylor.... 52

Claudell Washington... 37

Phil Garner... 35

Larry Lintz... 31

For those wondering, Rickey Henderson came up in 1979.

Grab a Cup of Joe and Let's Go!

Good morning!

Dougie's traveling today. That means you're stuck with your all-time favorite back-up QB for the day. Just call me Jeff Hostetler if you're under 50 or Earl Morrall if you're older.

The day is young and we are ready. Nvidia  (NVDA)  and Salesforce  (CRM)  both went to the tape last night. Nvidia hit the ball out of the park. The ball hit Salesforce. The market isn't sure what to think. We know that when we don't know, we like to get physical.

Everyone who can, just drop and beat your face. Give me what you've got. If it's ten, then do five sets. If it's 75, then give me 90, you hard-charging, fire-eating creature of the night. I know you've got this. Let me hear your guttural cry. Oh, yeah. That's it. Get some. Come try and get some of this.

We are highly motivated. We are truly dedicated. We romp. We stomp. We're rough. We're tough. We can't get enough. Fired up yet? Wind it up, baby. Wind it all the way up.

Now unsheathe that terrible swift sword and face those that would take from those you love. Today we stand shoulder to shoulder, and no one can beat us, because we stand for honor. We stand for love. We stand for those who can't. We %$&#ing stand!!!!

Now, go get a cup of Joe, you magnificent band of freaks.

God bless
